I used to do portrait parties all the time but my schedule got full and I also never liked feeling so rushed. I still get calls and emails from people asking me to do them so I've come up with something sort of similar but different. :)
The Digital Mini-Sessions. Get 2 of your friends (total of 3 of you) for this mini-session and for $350 each you get a 20 minute session and all your digital images (approx. 10) on CD. (No session fee) This is a great way for you and your friends to not only pay no session fee but to also get all your images on CD so you can print them to your hearts content. Print them for yourself, for your family to scrapbook with, whatever. With only 3 families it gives me some breathing room. If one of the kids isn't in the mood at that moment we'll just give them a break and do one of the other kids and then can go back to him or her when they're ready.
I'm a big planner so its no surprise that I'm already thinking about Mother's Day and Father's Day. Schedule a session in March or April so you can have time to print your images for those Grandparent's. They make great gifts!

Helping fight poverty.
My girlfriend and I have entered a competition. Although it seems odd to think of competing with other people to help fight poverty. In that sense there are no winners and losers. Anyway, the Grameen Foundation has started and Ingenuity competition to see who can use social networking the most effectively to raise money for and educate people about micro loans. So, for each session and seat booked in one of my classes through February 9th I will be donating $27 to the fund. $27 was the amount of the first micro loan given by Nobel prize winner Mohommad Yunis. Our goal is to find 270 people to donate 27 each by February 9th. So book a session, sign up for a class (in OP or Lawrence), just donate and/or tell all your friends! www.momsinthemirror.com
Classes in Overland Park & Lawrence.
Our Oveland Park classes have been so successful that with my move to De Soto I have decided to offer classes in Lawrence too. Photography 101 begins on January 27th in Overland Park at Evoultion Photographics on Wednesdays from 7-8:30. And in Lawrence at the Union Depot on Thursdays from 7-8:30.
Then Photo Editing 101 will begin on March 31st in Overland Park-same location, night and time. And in Lawrence on April first-same location, night and time.
Later this year we will also start offering one day photo fieldtrips (at the request of many students) where we will go out to a location and shoot for a while talking about lighting and settings and then go back and take a look at what we shot and play around with it in Photo Shop Elements.
Email if you have any questions. These classes will be offered twice a year in both locations.

Family Time!
I love nothing more than when a client wants me to capture them in action. No stiff poses, no worries about everyone looking at the camera and smiling at the same time, just them doing what they do. They are my favorite kind of images because they are real. These are a few favorites from a sessions this weekend.

Tagged!
I've been 'blog tagged' by another photographer . Culprit: Catherine Dillberg of San Antonio Texas. I'm glad I did, because it gave me a chance to check out her photography.
RULES:
1) Link the person who tagged you.
2) Mention the rules on your blog
.3) Tell about 6 unspectacular quirks of yours.
4) Tag 6 following bloggers by linking them & leave a comment on each of the tagged blogger’s blogs letting them know they have been tagged.
6 Quirks about myself....(not sure I can come up with quirks so we'll make that quirks/funny/interesting tidbits)
1. I am always reading at least 2 books at the same time.
2. I like to underline in them and type up my notes (not for fiction:)
3. My MIL went out on one date with Elvis Presley (before he was married).
4. My BIL is married to Jim Morrison's neice.
5. I am addicted to getting rid of 'stuff'.
6. I love to organize!
Now I need to tag 6 blogs!
